With SnowitPass, you do not need to purchase a ski pass before every day on the slopes. When you first pass through the turnstiles, a pre-authorisation is made and, once you have finished skiing, the system automatically calculates the applicable rate based on your actual usage.
What is a pre-authorisation?
A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold placed on the payment method linked to SnowitPass.
When you first pass through the turnstiles, an amount equal to the applicable daily rate for the user’s age category at the selected ski resort is pre-authorised.
⚠️ The pre-authorisation is not the final charge
The final amount is calculated later, based on the actual time spent on the slopes and the SnowitPass rates available at the ski resort.
Make sure that the linked payment method has sufficient funds available to cover the pre-authorisation. Otherwise, access through the turnstiles will be blocked.
When is the final charge made?
The final charge is processed within 48 hours of your last passage through the turnstiles.
The system calculates the final amount and, when necessary, adjusts the initial pre-authorisation to match the rate actually applied.
The time it takes for the transaction to appear on your bank statement may vary depending on your bank or payment network.
How is the best rate calculated?
The system compares the available SnowitPass rates at the ski resort and automatically applies the most convenient option based on the time you spend on the slopes.
Available rates may vary depending on:
- ski resort;
- period or season;
- age category;
- duration of the ski session;
- number of consecutive ski days.
Before going skiing, always check the SnowitPass rates for your chosen resort.
How are skiing hours calculated?
Skiing hours are calculated based on the passages recorded at the turnstiles.
The duration is rounded up to the next available time bracket in the rate table. For example, if you ski for 3 hours and 21 minutes, the 4-hour rate will be applied, if available at that resort.
If the ski resort does not offer a rate matching the number of hours skied, the next available time bracket or the full-day rate will be applied.
What happens if I ski for several consecutive days?
If the SnowitPass rate table includes multi-day rates, the system automatically checks whether these are more convenient than the sum of the individual daily rates.
The pre-authorisation is updated progressively.
The final charge is processed within 48 hours after your last ski day.
The system waits until the first day on which no new passages through the turnstiles are recorded.
You therefore need to wait until this process is complete before the correct charge is displayed and, if necessary, before requesting a review.
What happens if I ski at different resorts?
If you ski at different resorts over several consecutive days, the applicable rate for each resort is calculated separately.
Multi-day rates from different resorts are generally not combined.
An exception applies to ski areas that include several resorts. For example, the Bormio ski area also includes Santa Caterina Valfurva, Oga and Cima Piazzi–San Colombano. In these cases, multi-day ski area rates will be applied where available.
Where can I see my turnstile passages and charges?
You can check your ski sessions and the related amounts in the SnowitPass Subscriptions section of your Snowit profile.
Here you can view:
- recorded turnstile passages;
- the resort where you skied;
- the duration of your ski session;
- the rate applied;
- the amounts charged.
